Abstract
The spread of the urban settlements, the localization of the socio-economic activities system, the car
dependency, the poor reliability of the public transport services generate traffic congestion into the large urban areas. The
increase number of driving cycles, the low speed, the individual travel behavior and the infrastructure characteristics are the
main factors associating increased fuel consumption and urban congestion. Through computer simulation, the paper
investigates the influence of these factors in fuel consumption variation.
