Abstract: This article focuses on the last trends in technology-assisted learning. It defines the main conceptual issues discussed in literature, set criteria for the assessment of eLearning platforms and analyzes on these criteria first three Open source management systems for distance learning. After the results were made and the appropriate conclusions are set, we design and develop an Object Oriented platform for learning on a CGI / Apache architecture.
