STUDIU PRIVIND VOPSIREA TRADIŢIONALĂ CU COLORANŢI NATURALI DE ORIGINE VEGETALĂ

Autor/autori: Ing. Laura CHIRIAC

Abstract: Plants may contain one or more pigments in fruits, flowers, in the green parts, in wood, bark or roots. Vegetable dyes are, mostly, mordant dyes, by which dyeing is performed through a transition metal. Natural dyes are fixed to the fibers, generally by treatment in different phases of the dyeing process with a mordant and thus the dye forms with the mordant an insoluble and resistant „lacquer”, adhering to fibers. Traditional dyeing recipes use mordants with low toxicity to the environment and human health and natural extracts such as borscht, sauerkraut brine, whey, lye from wood ash. Vegetable dyes are organic and provide satisfactory dyeing of textile materials made of natural fibers in a range of soft shades and outstanding warm hues
