Abstract: This paper focuses on the study of the mechanical properties of different weft knitted fabrics depending on the raw material and knit structure. The programs were designed on M1 pattern station and the knitted fabrics were produced on Stoll CMS 530 E 6.2 weft knitting machine with four different structures (single jersey, interlock, full-cardigan and half-cardigan), using three different types of raw materials: natural yarns (cotton),artificial yarns (viscoze) and chemical yarns polyester). Research results show that the mechanical properties of knitted products are not only influenced by the nature of raw materials, but also by the structures characteristics such as thickness and stitch density. The knitted fabrics were subjected to some tests as: pilling, abrasion and extensibility. The research results show that the fabrics with a higher stich density expose better mechanical properties.
