Abstract: Witricity represents a potential technology used to transfer information/power between a source and a receiver without using wires. To describe the propagation of light in some waveguides or optical cavities under the influence of external disturbances or nonlinear effects, the coupled mode theory is used, but in wireless power transfer because RLC resonators are used, the circuit theory is more attractive. In this paper the two approaches are applied for the first time in parallel in a wireless power transfer problem, the analitical results and the simulation results as well are compared, and the advantages/drawbacks of both theories are pointed out.

Keywords: witricity , wireless power transfer, coupled mode theory.
